Employee Rewards and Benefits News

Employee benefits are 'extremely important' to Asian workers

A variety of employee benefits is important in the workplace, according to a new report.

AsiaOne explained that creative perks are most well-received, with the publication interviewing a number of organisations including one which combined both atmospheric and financial bonuses.

Jacinta Low, the head of human resource planning and employee communications at OCBC Bank headquartered in Singapore, explained that the company operates a flexible benefits strategy where employees get flex-dollars, which can be spent on holiday expenses, day care or healthcare.

On top of this, the organisation also operates other resources including karaoke rooms, massage chairs and a table tennis room to keep employees happy.

Ms Low said: "By engaging them through channels, including the annual employee surveys and regular focus groups, we ensure that employees can look forward to programmes relevant to their needs and evolving lifestyles."

It follows news from South Korea which revealed that the nation is looking to offer extended employee benefits for expat workers willing to help the country maintain its high reputation, Human Resources Magazine Singapore revealed.
