Apple discovers use of child labour in audit

The health and wellbeing of workers in China and other nations has been called into question following a recent audit of outsourced employees by Apple in its assembly if iPhones, iPods and Macintosh computers.

According to the technology organisation led by Steve Jobs, the audit discovered that three facilities had previously hired 15-year-old workers in countries where the minimum age for employment is 16.

The firm explained to the public: "Across the three facilities, our auditors found records of 11 workers who had been hired prior to reaching the legal age, although the workers were no longer underage or no longer in active employment at the time of our audit."

It attributed the issues to the concealing of evidence of historical cases of underage labor, while two others gave falsified records that violated Apple's Code in regards to working hours and days of rest.

The news comes soon after Apple released its most recent flagship product, the iPad.
