Infosys to raise wage for Indian workers

Infosys Technologies, the second-largest IT services exporter in India, has announced plans to raise wages for all of its staff in April following a rebound in demand for its outsourcing services, it has been revealed.

Last week, a spokeswoman for the organisation said that Infosys would do so after the company, alongside rivals Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro, put off annual wage hikes last year due to the global recession.

A spokeswoman for Infosys said in an e-mailed statement to Reuters: "Yes, we are considering a wage hike in April. We expect business to be normal in the coming year and as in a normal year, we give hikes every April."

Many newspapers are commenting on the issue have placed the rise at between eight and 12 per cent - a huge amount for employees with the technology firm.

Headquartered in Bangalore, Infosys was founded in 1981 and has the largest corporate university in the world at its Mysore campus.
