Indian bus drivers to benefit from satellite navigation

Employee benefits for bus drivers in India could improve as the country signed a satellite navigation deal with Russia, according to reports published by news agency Interfax.

This technology will no doubt make driving relatively easier on the jam-packed roads of Indian cities.

The deal has been struck between India's HBL Power Systems and the Russian Navigation Information System.

Employing this new technology will also see buses being fitted out with holistic system that allows the driver to control and change set routes. It will also help fleet managers to assess efficiency of these vehicles.

This technology, called the Golnass system, was developed by the Soviets to complete with the GPS technology developed by the US.

Recently, it was also announced that another foreign company, Suzuki Motor Corp, would be investing in India to set-up a third plant to expand its production operations in the country.
