Employee reward and benefits news

Australian companies need talent management

An effective employee benefits strategy needs to be in place to retain workers in Australia as workers from Down Under are most likely to switch jobs, it has been claimed.

According to a new piece of research conducted by Infogroup ORC which looked at 16 countries, Australian workers exhibited the highest likelihood of changing employers in the next 12 months.

With regards to employee engagement, Australian companies fared well securing an overall seventh position in the world rankings.

However, the chief reasons identified for this trend was the employees' concerns over career progression within the organisation and confidence in the capability of their line managers.

Wendy McInnes, Infogroup's director of employee research for Asia Pacific, said: "If managers can't nurture, develop and recognise their employees' talent, they will look elsewhere; no matter what positive feeling they have towards the organisation."

Recently, it was announced that the Australian prime minister Julia Gillard would continue leading the company after being backed by two of the three independent ministers.
